How To Install Wall Paneling Kits from WondrWallz

You will need:

  • Construction adhesive (e.g., LePage)
  • Disposable rag or cloth (to clean off any excess adhesive)
  • Masking tape
  • Level
  • Measuring tape
  • Pencil
  • Wood filler, drywall compound, or spackle (to fill in any visible seams)
  • Fine-grit sanding block (to smooth the seams afterward)

If you choose to use a Brad nailer:  you'll need nails rated for your nailer, at least 1 1/2” long. Please set your nailer to a lower pressure setting, as polyurethane is a soft material.

How to install:

1.         Prepare the Wall
Ensure the wall is clean and completely dry before installation.

2.         Mark the Placement
Using a measuring tape and pencil, mark where each trim piece should go based on the provided diagram. Adjust spacing to your preference, and double-check measurements. Keep in mind that most walls are not perfectly square, but minor variances are usually unnoticeable.

3.         Install the Trim
Use a level to ensure proper alignment and attach the trim to the wall using either a Brad nailer or construction adhesive. If using adhesive, secure the pieces with masking tape while they dry. Please note: longer trim pieces may be more difficult to secure with adhesive alone, as the material is slightly flexible. To keep the trim straight and firmly in place, we recommend using nails with a brad nailer in a few key spots along the length of the piece.

4.         Make Adjustments if Needed
Our trim pieces are precisely cut. If installing a chair rail or board-and-batten-style trim and the fit feels too tight, gently sand a small amount off for a perfect fit.

5.         Fill Gaps and Nail Holes
Use wood filler, drywall compound, or spackle to fill any visible seams or nail holes (if using a Brad nailer). Allow it to dry completely.

6.         Sand for a Smooth Finish
Once dry, use a fine-grit sanding block to smooth out the filled areas.

7.         Paint
Your trim is now ready for paint! Apply your chosen color to both the wall and trim for a seamless look.

Important Note:

Please keep in mind that trim pieces are considered raw products. Minor imperfections are normal and can be easily fixed with wood filler, drywall compound, or spackle during the installation process. These products are designed to be finished after installation.
